There is a phenomenon in current Spanish that, despite being common, is not well known. This phenomenon, called “le por les”, is the lack of agreement between the dative clitic pronoun and the plural indirect object, ie, the use of a dative singular clitic instead of a plural one. In our Final Project we present a brief literature review of this grammatical phenomenon in order to show that “le por les” can be found both in spoken and written Spanish and depends on several factors, such as social class, academic studies, geographical area and syntactic structure.
