[ES]El tema principal del presente trabajo es proponer la Terapia de Aceptación y Compromiso (ACT) como una alternativa terapéutica para padres que reciben la noticia de que su hijo presenta una enfermedad grave o una
discapacidad. En primer lugar se presentan las diferentes fases por las que pasan estos padres cuando reciben el diagnóstico de su hijo/a. Se incluye una revisión sobre la terapia que más apoyo empírico ha demostrado
aplicada a padres en esta situación, la terapia cognitivo-conductual. Se describen los fundamentos de ACT y se revisan las aplicaciones de esta terapia a padres así como los resultados obtenidos, con especial atención a la
aplicación de ACT a padres cuyos hijos han sido diagnosticados de autismo. Por último, se concluye con el planteamiento de una intervención basada en ACT para padres que se enfrentan a un diagnóstico de discapacidad de un hijo.
[EN]The main topic of the present work is to propose the Therapy of Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) as a therapeutic alternative for parents who receive the news about that its son presents a serious illness or a disability. First of all there appear the different phases for which these parents happen when they receive the diagnosis of its son / daughter. A review includes on the therapy that more empirical support has demonstrated applied parents in this situation, the cognitive - behavioral therapy. The ACT essentials are described and there are checked the applications of this therapy to parents as well as the obtained results, with special attention to the application of ACT to parents whose children have been diagnosed of autism. Finally, it ends with the exposition of an intervention based on ACT for parents who face a diagnosis of disability of a son.
