Literature in the EFL classroom: Oscar Wilde’s the importance of being Earnest

Resumen
Hoy en día, la enseñanza del inglés presenta una gran variedad de enfoques innovadores y
diversos. Sin embargo, hemos olvidado uno de los instrumentos más útiles para este fin: la
literatura. Por ello, este trabajo de fin de máster se centra en la enseñanza del inglés a través
de la literatura, en particular mediante el teatro de Oscar Wilde, una figura emblemática de
la literatura inglesa. Se pretende demostrar que la literatura es una herramienta didáctica
eficaz en la enseñanza de una lengua extranjera tomando como referencia las investigaciones
de otros estudiosos de la enseñanza del inglés. El texto que se presenta a los alumnos de
bachillerato es The Importance of Being Earnest (La importancia de llamarse Ernesto), que se
utiliza para el desarrollo de una unidad didáctica que contiene cinco programaciones con una
gran variedad de actividades (considerando las cuatro habilidades principales del MCER:
escuchar, leer, escribir y hablar).
