A través

[EN]Sustainable Development is a concept that arises at the end of the twentieth century and is assuming a decisive turning point that seeks to promote global change at all dimensions; social, economic and environmental, in order to meet current and future needs. To achieve full implementation, it is necessary to analyze what are the strengths and weaknesses that society presents in terms of sustainability and motivate the participation of all citizens to facilitate the fulfillment of said purpose. These observations will serve to confront with greater certainty and security the challenges that arise and prosper successfully in the design of strategies. It has been shown that urban societies have higher levels of awareness in sustainability than rural ones. The aim of this work, to assess the level of Sustainability Consciousness in rural environments through previosly tested methodologies and tools. For this purpose, three municipalities under study in the province of Jaén were chosen and training workshops on sustainability were held. Through the use of a questionnaire already 2 tested, the level of awareness presented by each of them was detected. The results obtained before and after the training process, indicated that the level of awareness and perception has increased significantly in the three municipalities. Keywords: Sustainable Development, Levels and Dimensions of Sustainable Development, Participatory Model, Sustainability Consciousness, Rural Settings.
