EL VÍNCULO HUMANO-ANIMAL ENTRE LAS PERSONAS SIN HOGAR Y SUS MASCOTAS: UNA REVISIÓN SISTEMÁTICA DEL ESTADO DE LA CIENCIA

Abstract

[ES]Esta revisión sistemática basada en el protocolo PRISMA, tiene como objetivo caracterizar el vínculo humano-animal entre las personas sin hogar y sus mascotas, a través de un análisis de las investigaciones realizadas y publicadas en revistas científicas hasta la fecha. Para ello se han revisado ocho bases de datos en los idiomas español, inglés y francés. De 6651 citaciones, diez estudios fueron incluidos en la revisión tras aplicar los criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Los

resultados mostraron que efectivamente el acompañamiento de las mascotas proporciona bien- estar emocional a sus dueños sin hogar a diversos niveles, pero también les hacen más vulnera- bles psicológicamente. Además, se encontró evidencia sobre la problemática de realojo de estas

personas debido al vínculo que tienen con sus mascotas. Aunque los resultados proporcionados parecen coincidir en su mayoría, se han encontrado relativamente pocos estudios cuantitativos que se centren en el vínculo humano-animal entre el colectivo sin hogar y sus mascotas, por lo que hacen falta más investigaciones en este campo. [EN]The aim of the following systematic review based on the PRISMA protocol is characterize the human-pet bond between homeless people and their companion animals through an analysis of the research done up to date and published in scientific journals. In order to do so, eight da- tabases in french, english and spanish were consulted. From 6651 citations, ten were included

in the review after applying the inclusion/exclusion criteria. The results of the studies included

give evidence about the positive effects that the human-pet bond has in the emotional well-be- ing of the homeless but also states that they are psychologically more vulnerable. Furthermore,

evidence was found about the problem of rehousing homeless pet owners because of the strong attachment towards their pets. Even though the research results don’t seem to differ much, there are not many quantitative studies about the human-animal bond, so more research needs to be done.
