[EN]The aim of this randomized clinical trial is to analyze the effects of a Pilates exercise program in patients with non-specific chronic low back pain. The study has had the participation of 38 patients in total, 19 for each experimental group and control. The exercise program consisted of 12 Pilates sessions, 2 per week. Pain was assessed using a visual analog scale, disability using the Roland-Morris test, and body mass index (BMI). The measurements were made at the beginning and at the end of the intervention. The outcome showed that after the intervention, the experimental group showed significant differences concerning to the control group and the pre-intervention measure. In accordance to the BMI, we can find significant differences only between the pre / post measurements of the experimental group. We can conclude that the Pilates method has positive effects on low back pain and the level of disability also having the ability to reduce BMI. Key words: Pilates, disability, pain, body mass index, back pain.
