Autism Spectrum Disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder that could be summed up in the fact that individuals suffering from it isolate themselves in their ‘inner world’, perceiving reality differently from others. The ASD has some associated characteristics, among which is the way to act and process the information. The autistic mind follows a different pace and uses different processes than the minds of people without ASD. Not only in the state of activity the autistic brain acts in a peculiar way, but also during the state of rest, resulting in a greater prevalence and frequency of several sleep disorders among people with ASD in comparison to those without ASD. In this paper, after analysing the consequences sleep and rest have on cognitive and school performance, a workshop is proposed to alleviate the effects of sleep problems to optimize the academic performance of students with ASD.
