This monograph summarises the current knowledge of both diseases in cattle in terms of their transmission, diagnosis, symptomatology and prevention and control measures. In addition, it details how they affect public health and the economy, as well as their evolution over the last decades in Spain. The national control and eradication programmes have managed to establish the country as officially free of bovine brucellosis; however, bovine tuberculosis is still present in the Iberian Peninsula and, at present, work is being carried out without limits to reduce this disease, as well as all the consequences that it entails
