(EN)On account of the requirements of an unstable globalised world, foreign language learning has become a primordial point of discussion within European linguistic policies’ agenda. This dissertation is intended to defend the fostering of plurilingualism in schools by means of the design of a didactic unit that will aim at broadening students’ breadth of their English communicative competence. In order to achieve this aforementioned goal, a fastidious analysis of English modal verbs from a linguistic and legal viewpoint, and plurilingualism in Spanish compulsory secondary education will be made, given the fact that this grammatical construction is a curricular content in the pedagogical proposal. Subsequently, the teaching unit will be presented with all its corresponding sections. Lastly, a conclusion, coupled with worth-mentioning references and illustrative appendices, will be made apparent.
