Social abilities promote the optimum and healthy development of teenagers during childhood. Anxiety disorder or social phobia, is one of the pathologies largely associated with the lack of social abilities during this period of growth, which has been specifically linked to the temporal factor of the behavioural inhibition. The objective of this essay is to demonstrate, through a bibliographical revision in sites like PubMed and PROQUEST among others, the existing relation between behavioural inhibition and the development of social anxiety disorder during periods of growth and development in teenagers. Through a revision, I conclude that the behavioural inhibition is a clear factor of primary risk in the development of social anxiety during early ages. Nevertheless, it is necessary to consider other variables which could have an impact in this relation.
