Fear is part of a common emotion present in all human beings, which protects us and keeps us alert to potentially threatening situations in order to prevent us from suffering serious harm. However, sometimes the fear reaction experienced is more frequent, longer and more intense than normal in certain situations. This is when fear becomes a problem as it interferes with our daily lives and becomes what we call a specific phobia. This paper focuses on the study of a case of specific phobia of the dark in a paediatric-juvenile population. The main objective is for the patient to overcome the fear caused by the phobic stimulus by means of an intervention programme based on cognitive-behavioural therapy, using cognitive restructuring together with gradual live exposure. It will be carried out in a playful way to engage the patient and encourage motivation.
