[EN] The aim of the study was to analyze the association of the presence, number and intensity of postmenopausal hot flashes with health-related quality of life. A cross-sectional observational study was conducted in 107 postmenopausal women (± 69 years). Hot flashes were collected in a diary, and the 36-Item Short Form Health Survey questionnaire-SF-36 for health-related quality of life was used. BMI, age and waist circumference were considered as confounding variables. It was observed that 46% had hot flashes with a mean intensity of 0.82, being the presence and frequency, but not the intensity, significant in the health domains: social function, bodily pain, vitality and mental health. BMI and age were linked to the physical domain, and waist circumference to the mental domain. Postmenopausal hot flashes may be considered as predictors of poorer health quality of life.
