The aim of this study is to test whether interaction with dogs during mealtimes reduces psychological distress and stress associated with food intake in patients with anorexia nervosa. The sample consists of 10 female patients from the Citema day care center (Madrid) aged between 13 and 20 years affected by anorexia nervosa. The study will be a quasi-experimental study in which the amount of cortisol in saliva and subjective perceived stress will be the dependent variables and the introduction of dogs, the independent variable. To carry it out, cortisol in saliva will be measured by means of the SOMA OFC II instrument and subjective perceived stress by means of the STAI-E-M scale. The confirmation of the hypotheses could contribute to the opening of a new line of research from which benefits could be obtained for the treatment of those affected by anorexia nervosa.
