Rey Juan Carlos I.
[EN]Following the completion of this study, we have analyzed the foundations on which our electoral system is based. Our approach to the study is a historical view, starting with the system in force during the Second Spanish Republic and the bases that it would set during the Spanish Transition conducted by HM King Juan Carlos I. Thus, by analyzing the principles of this system, we have examined the flaws that can be pointed out, or what could be done to improve it. This is a relevant issue because the electoral system is a very important factor in democratic quality, and will directly have influence on the political scene, somehow affecting representativeness, among other issues. To conclude, we have also included the reform proposals put forward by political groups and by different authors.
