The study of the animal world, and specifically vertebrate animals, has changed throughout history due to the evolution of science and new technologies. These changes have affected definitions, concepts and their classification, altering their teaching process. Today, knowing the characteristics of the animal world is a key element in the educational curriculum of the subject of Biology and Geology in Secondary Education. In this Master Final Project, a didactic projection on the unit “Vertebrate animals” for the 1o Secondary grade is proposed, based on students ́ previous ideas (specific learning obstacles) and working on the different contents through innovative methodologies. With the aim of promoting the interest and participation of students in science, as well as making them participants in their own learning, several activities have been designed. They involve different methodologies, such as collaborative learning, inquiry-based learning and TICs.
