La Oxitocina es una hormona sintetizada y secretada principalmente por neuronas del hipotálamo, y es conocida por su papel en la lactancia y el parto. En los últimos años se ha demostrado que además modula varios aspectos relacionados con los vínculos sociales, como son la cognición social, la empatía, la afiliación y comportamientos parentales y sexuales.
En este trabajo se quiere reflejar las funciones de la Oxitocina mediante una revisión sistemática de varios experimentos donde se demuestra que esta hormona tiene un papel importante en el comportamiento social tanto en animales como en seres humanos.

In recent years, it has also been shown to modulate various aspects of social bonding, such as social cognition, empathy, affiliation, and parental and sexual behaviours. This paper aims to reflect on the functions of oxytocin through a systematic review of several experiments showing that this hormone plays an important role in social behaviour in both animals and humans.
