Multilingual terminology: Spanish-English-Chinese

Abstract

[ES]El rápido desarrollo que ha sufrido el sector económico y tecnológico en los últimos años necesita urgentemente datos terminológicos que compilen términos especializados. Como resultado, los lenguajes especializados han experimentado un desarrollo muy relevante. Teniendo en cuenta el número de lenguas que participan en un proyecto, pueden encontrarse dos tipos principales: monolingüe y bilingüe o multilingüe. Esta investigación, en primer lugar, examina la teoría del modelo multilingüe y a continuación, adelanta un excelente ejemplo de este modelo aplicado a la terminología del sector oleícola. Por último, este trabajo también se ocupa de los problemas terminológicos de las denominaciones y definiciones de las diferentes categorías comerciales de aceite de oliva en español y chino. El modelo lingüístico revisado aquí ayuda a reducir malentendidos en torno a este grupo de términos y, al mismo tiempo, enriquece nuestro conocimiento especializado en la materia.

[EN]The rapid economic and technological development urgently requires terminological records complying with specialized terms in recent years, which has led to a significant development of terminology. Considering the number of languages involved in a project, there are two main types: monolingual, bilingual or multilingual. First of all, the multilingual model theory will be mainly explained in this paper. Secondly, an excellent example of this model applied to the terminology in the oleiculture sector will be put forward. Finally, a proposal for adequate Spanish designations of different categories of olive oil and the corresponding Chinese equivalents will be discussed in this paper as well. This objective of this proposal is to help reduce the misunderstandings of confusing denominations and enrich the specialized knowledge in modern olive oil agriculture at the same time.
