El desarrollo de la escultura en Torredonjimeno durante la Edad Moderna

Abstract

(ES) El papel propagandístico y doctrinal tan sumamente trascendental que desempeñó la escultura en la Edad Moderna española fue causante de un enorme florecimiento de este arte, con multitud de artistas y soluciones creativas, y un ingente número de obras distribuidas por todos los rincones de la geografía. Torredonjimeno es buen reflejo de ello, con una presencia muy destacada, tanto por cantidad como por calidad, de este arte entre su extenso patrimonio, en el que aún queda mucho por investigar y descubrir. En este trabajo realizaremos un análisis del desarrollo de la escultura en la localidad en este momento histórico, centrándonos en la escultura de tipo religioso, analizando el contexto en que se desarrolla y estudiando algunas de las principales obras existentes en la localidad

(EN) The extremely transcendental propagandistic and doctrinal role played by sculpture in the Spanish Modern Age was the cause of an enormous flourishing of this art, with a multitude of artists and creative solutions, and a huge number of works distributed throughout all corners of the geography. Torredonjimeno is a good reflection of this, with a very prominent presence, both in terms of quantity and quality, of this art among its extensive heritage, in which much remains to be investigated and discovered. In this work we will carry out an analysis of the development of sculpture in the town at this historical moment, focusing on religious sculpture, analyzing the context in which it is developed and studying some of the main existing works in the town.
