Síndrome de X-frágil: necesidades y retos para la familia

Abstract

[ES]El Síndrome X-Frágil es el primer Síndrome Genético Hereditario que causa retraso mental. Aún así está catalogado como una enfermedad rara en nuestro país, y se expresa en diversos textos como "poco frecuente", no existiendo estadísticas ni estudios actualizados acerca del número de familias existentes. En este TFM, se pretende emponderar y visualizar las necesidades específicas que tienen las familias cuando uno de sus miembros presenta esta patología y las consecuencias que ello conlleva al ser hereditario. Se quiere hacer constar el desconocimiento existente acerca del mismo no sólo de la población en general, sino de los diversos profesionales que tienen que atender a estas familias en el transcurso de su ciclo vital que son casi inexistentes, así como la bibliografía, documentación o estudios específicos acerca de la intervención social con este colectivo. Esta cuestión es un handicap bastante importante para ellos, en este TFM se pretende esbozar una posible alternativa.[EN]The fragile-X syndrome is the first hereditary genetic syndrome, which causes mental retardation. Yet it is listed as a rare disease in our country, and is expressed in various texts as "rare", having from the Federation statistics nor studies updated on the number of existing families. In this TFM, we try to evaluate and visualize the specific needs that families in which one of its members have this pathology and the consequences that this entails to be hereditary. We want to certify that exists enough ignorance about the same not only of the population in general, but of different professionals who have to attend these families over the course of its life cycle. This issue is a significant handicap for them. Finally do see that bibliographies, literature, or specific studies about the social intervention with this are almost non-existent collective, in this TFM is to outline a possible alternative.
