[EN]Fibromyalgia is a disease of unknown etiology characterized by widespread muscleskeletal pain and the presence of at least eleven of eighteen tender points distributed across the soft tissues (Park, Glass, Minear y Crofford., 2001). Among the various theories that suggest possible differences between patients with fibromyalgia and healthy people, we study has focused on cardiovascular psychophysiological. Thus, we have worked with physiological variables such as the systolic blood pressure, heart period cardiac variability and baroreceptor sensitive reflex. For this purpose, two groups were analyzed (40 subjects with fibromyalgia and 27 healthy subjects) who conducted a physical stress task (evocation of pain) and mental stress task (arithmetic). The results found are clear, and show significant differences regarding the variables listed above. These results support the idea that there is a clear deficit in the autonomic regulation system in the FM versus stress condition, and an abnormal operation of the cardiovascular autonomic system seen in the significant reduction in four physiological variables.
