EL INGLÉS HABLADO EN LA INDIA DESDE LA PERSPECTIVA DE: BRIDE AND PREJUDICE

Resumen
El principal objetivo de este ensayo es explicar la influencia del inglés hablado como segunda lengua (L2) oficial en el país asiático de la India. Este estudio incluirá aspectos a nivel fonético, fonológico, gramatical y pragmático y al mismo tiempo, una comparativa entre el inglés indio (IE) y el inglés británico será llevado a cabo. Además, el corpus de Bollywood Bride and Prejudice (‘Bodas y prejuicios’) producido por Chadha (2004) será usado con el fin de analizar los aspectos mencionados, ya que esta película contiene recursos tanto escritos como audiovisuales que serán de utilidad. Debido al propósito de este proyecto, un contexto socio – histórico de la lengua inglesa en la India será añadido también, puesto que los antecedentes son necesarios para comprender cómo el idioma inglés se expandió, y evolucionó a través de las diferentes etapas que tuvieron lugar a lo largo de los años en la India.
The main purpose of this essay is to explain the English – speaking influence as official second language (ESL) in the Asian country of India. This paper will include aspects such as phonetical, phonological, grammatical and pragmatic levels, and at the same time, a comparative between Indian English (IE) and British English will be carried out. Besides, a Bride and Prejudice Bollywood corpus produced by Chadha (2004) will be used with the purpose of analyzing the aspects mentioned above since this film contains written and audiovisuals data resources that will be useful. Owing to the aim of this project, a socio – historical context of the English language in India will be added too because this background information is necessary to understand how the English language spread and evolved over the different stages that took place throughout the years in India.
