Communicative Foreign Language Teaching in Secondary Education: A Task-based Proposal

Resumen
Sin duda alguna, la función principal de las lenguas es la interacción y la comunicación entre los seres humanos. Debido a esto, la enseñanza comunicativa de lenguas debería ser primordial en los centros educativos para asegurar su correcto aprendizaje y posterior uso. El principal objetivo de este trabajo es fomentar la enseñanza del inglés como lengua extranjera basada en un método comunicativo, en el que los alumnos podrán adquirir las competencias necesarias para enfrentarse al mundo real. En primer lugar, se abordarán conceptos básicos necesarios y se hará una pequeña revisión de la transición desde los enfoques tradicionales hasta el método comunicativo. Seguidamente, se profundizará en la explicación de la competencia comunicativa y, además, el aprendizaje por tareas. Finalmente, se presentará una propuesta de actividades y un método para evaluar la unidad en concordancia con el tema elegido.
With no doubt, the main aim of languages is interaction and communication between human beings. As a consequence, communicative language teaching should be essential in educational institutions in order to ensure proper language learning and subsequent use. The main objective of this project is to promote the teaching of English as a FL based on a communicative approach, where students can acquire the necessary skills to face the real world. Firstly, some basic concepts will be dealt with as well as a little review of the transition from traditional approaches up to the communicative method. Afterwards, the focus is on a deeper explanation of communicative competence, as well as the task-based syllabus. Finally, some activities and a final evaluative task will be presented according to the chosen topic.
