USING DRAMA IN EFLT AS A RESOURCE TO IMPROVE THE SKILL OF SPEAKING: A PROPOSAL

Abstract

[ES] El tema de mi investigación es "Usando drama en EFLT (la enseñanza del Inglés como lengua extranjera) como un recurso para mejorar la habilidad de hablar" y se relaciona con el inglés y las artes. Opté por usar el drama para enseñar Inglés en e~ aula porque creo que los estudiantes generalmente tienen problemas de aprender un nuevo idioma. En mi opinión utilizar dramabzaciones en el aula puede ayudar a los estudiantes a bajar niveles de estrés y conseguir un buen filtro afectivo: así el aprendizaje de una lengua se hace más fácil y la habilidad de hablar podría desarrollarse más eficazmente. He sido profesora de Inglés de d-iferentes niveles durante veinticinco años y creo que el trabajo con adolescentes es más difícil debido a su edad, sus intereses y necesidades. El objetiVO de mi proyecto es mostrar a través de investigación que el uso del drama en el aula es muy útil al enseñar inglés.

[EN] The topic of my research project is "Using drama in EFLT as a resource to improve the skill of speaking" and it is related to both English and Arts topics , I ehose to use drama to teach English in the classroom because I think that students usual !y have prob'lems leaming a new language. In my opinion using dramatizations in the cl!assroom can help students lower stress levels and obtain a good affective filter : thus the learning of a language is made easier and the skill of speaking could be developed more effectively. I have been an English teacher of different levels for twenty-five years and I think that working with teenagers is the most difficult area because of their age, their interests and necessities. The aim of my project is to show through research that drama is really helpful in the classroom when teaching English .
