THE INFLUENCE OF AGE IN SECOND LANGUAGE LEARNING

Abstract

El principal objetivo de este trabajo académico es analizar la influencia que tiene la edad a la hora de adquirir una segunda lengua. Para analizar esa influencia, se profundizará en la idea de que existe un periodo crítico para ello, al igual que en las posturas que lo contradicen, contrastando varios estudios que se posicionan tanto a favor como en contra, para, finalmente, llegar a una conclusión de cuán importante es el factor de la edad a la hora de aprender una segunda lengua y cuáles son las etapas más propicias para ese fin.

The main objective of this academic work is to analyse the influence that age has when it comes To learning or acquiring a second language. In order to discover the influence of age, it is important to delve into the idea of the existence of a critical period, along with different standpoints that contradict this, contrasting several studies that are positioned both in favour and against to finally reach a conclusion of how important the age factor is when learning a second language and what are the most propitious stages for that purpose.
