ESTUDIO NUMÉRICO DE UN PERFIL NACA CON ELEMENTOS RUGOSOS EN EL BORDE DE ATAQUE

Abstract

Este Trabajo de Fin de Grado presenta el estudio numérico de una aleta irregular con protuberancias frontales, diseñada a base de un perfil NACA, e inspirada en la forma de aleta pectoral de una ballena jorobada. Mediante una comparativa con otra aleta extruída sin protuberancias, se pretende analizar el mecanismo aerodinámico que permite a la ballena reducir el coeficiente de arrastre en el agua, y entender la función de dichas irregularidades. El estudio se llevará a cabo mediante simulaciones numéricas turbulentas en ANSYS Fluent(R), que permitirá caracterizar campos de velocidad y presión alrededor del cuerpo, así como el cálculo del coeficiente de arrastre.

This Bachelor Thesis presents numerical results concerning the flow around an irregular wing, obtained through extrusion of a NACA profile, whose front part is ondulated. This design is inspired in the pectoral flipper of a humpback whale. By means of a comparative analysis with respect to a regular wing, we aim at analyzing the physical mechanism reducing the drag coefficient achieved by this particular geometry, and understanding the role of the ondulation in the front part of the wing. The numerical study is carried out using ANSYS Fluent(R), which allows characterization of pressure and velocity fields around the body, along with the drag coefficient computation.
