[EN] The extensive use of different chemical compounds in agriculture and their harmful effects have promoted the search for alternative environmentally friendly compounds to avoid and mitigate negative effects. Thus, this literature review aims to demonstrate the virtues of the use of Bacillus spp. in modern agriculture. The scientific literature review has been made using different databases such as PubMed, Web of Science and Google Scholar, revealed that Bacillus spp. are among the most commonly used bacterial species in agricultura. Due to their physiological characteristics, all the abovementioned species are classified as biological control agents. Moreover, several members of the genus Bacillus not only promote crop growth, but can also improve soil quality, increase nutrient availability and are even used for bioremediation. Furthemore, a number of Bacillus spp. have shown the potential to confer resistance to their host.
