Additive manufacturing is one of the fastest growing manufacturing trends in recent years. However, the process finds several limitations that can slow down its development, such as the poor surface quality obtained when compared with traditional manufacturing processes such as machining. In the present Final Dissetation, the state of the art of the processes of additive and subtractive manufacturing and surface quality obtained in these processes is reported. The goal of the work is to study the parameters of additive manufacturing that affect the surface quality of the pieces obtained. In addition, a comparative study of the surface roughness obtained in additive manufacturing and by means of a post-processing by means of conventional lathe machining will be carried out.
