Resumen
El presente trabajo busca realizar una comparación entre el sistema educativo español y el de
Reino Unido en materia de Educación Especial. En este sentido se realiza una búsqueda de información
sobre la legislación que regula cada uno de los sistemas educativos presentados y sus diferencias más
significativas.
Entre los aspectos que se contemplan en el presente trabajo se encuentra la evolución tanto del
tratamiento de la Educación Especial en España como en Reino Unido, el acceso a las escuelas
especiales en los dos países eje del estudio. A su vez, se presentan tanto las actitudes y aptitudes por
parte de los docentes y de los alumnos, quienes serán beneficiarios de este tipo de educación. Además se
hace énfasis en la intervención educativa hacia alumnos con cualquier tipo de discapacidad, junto con la
realización de un apartado de orientación laboral, y de los apoyos que reciben este tipo de alumnos, y las
posibilidades laborales a su alcance.
Finalmente, hay un apartado de conclusiones en las que aparece una valoración personal sobre los
aspectos más relevantes de ambos sistemas educativos.
The present study seeks to make a comparison between the Spanish educational system and that of the United Kingdom as regards special education. We have conducted a search for information on the legislation governing each of these educational systems and their most significant differences. Among the is sues dealt with in the present work is the evolution of the treatment of special education in Spain and in United Kingdom, the access to special schools in the two countries. At the same time, we describe the attitudes and skills of both the teachers and the students who will benefit from this type of education. In addition, emphasis is placed on educational intervention for students with some kind of disability, together with the a section devoted to employment orientation, the support received by this type of students, and their employment possibilities. Finally, there is a section on conclusions, where I present my personal assessment on the most relevant aspects of both educational systems.
