This experimental process has been based on treating a certain fraction of the olive pruning residue particle with an organic compound, gamma-valerolactone (GVL), in order to obtain a solid residue treated with a high percentage of cellulose but in turn, with the least amount of lignin and hemicellulose to be able, in this way, to favor a possible enzymatic treatment of the residual biomass obtained for the production of ethanol as biofuel, a promising alternative to conventional fuels. To achieve this purpose various experiments were carried out using an organosolv treatment assisted by microwave radiation, where the process temperature conditions, amount of solvent used, time of treatment and amount of sample used were the main parameters that were modified in the different trials performed.
