(ES) En las últimas dos décadas ha habido un incremento notable en el diagnóstico, evaluación,
tratamiento e investigación con relación al TDAH (Trastorno por déficit de atención e
hiperactividad). Siendo una condición neuro-comportamental, el Déficit Atencional (con o con
hiperactividad) puede comprometer profundamente el funcionamiento personal en diversos
aspectos de la vida (de ahí que se denomine “Trastorno”). Trabajos clínicos y de investigación
sugieren que este Trastorno conlleva diversos aspectos asociados al mismo, tales como
trastornos de conducta, de ansiedad y de aprendizaje. En general, para algunos individuos los
métodos tradicionales de tratamiento como medicación y terapias psicológicas no son total o
suficientemente efectivos para favorecer su adaptación escolar o social. Estudiantes de todas
las edades a menudo se esfuerzan con sus asignaturas, se frustran y desaniman cuando no
pueden alcanzar las expectativas de sus padres, maestros, las de sus compañeros y/o las suyas
propias. A estas personas es recomendable proporcionarles otros servicios y métodos de
intervención complementarios o alternativos. Un plan de intervención junto a sus iguales, con
quienes comparten la totalidad de tiempo mientras están en la escuela, sería apropiado.
(EN) In the last two decades there has been a remarkable increase in the diagnosis, evaluation, treatment and research related to ADHD (Attention déficit hyperactivity disorder). Being a neurobehavioral condition, Attention Deficit (with or with hyperactivity) can profoundly compromise personal functioning in various aspects of life (hence it is called "Disorder"). Clinical and research studies suggest that this Disorder has various associated aspects, such as behavioral, anxiety and learning disorders. In general, for some individuals, traditional treatment methods such as medication and psychological therapies are not totally or sufficiently effective in favoring their school or social adaptation. Students of all ages often struggle with their subjects, become frustrated and discouraged when they cannot meet the expectations of their parents, teachers, their peers and/or their own. It is advisable to provide these people with other complementary or alternative services and intervention methods. An intervention plan with their peers, with whom they share full time while at school, would be appropriate.
