PSICOGERIATRÍA: "DE CASA HOGAR A RESIDENCIA"

Abstract

[ES] En numerosas ocasiones tiene lugar una completa desprotección de los derechos de las personas que sufren un trastorno mental grave. Ello nos ha llevado a preguntarnos si los recursos comunitarios existentes de los que son beneficiarios, aseguran su bienestar y calidad de vida. La revisión bibliográfica llevada a cabo, ahonda y estudia que factores determinan el cambio de dispositivo de Casa Hogar a Residencia de Personas Mayores para las personas que padecen una enfermedad mental cuando cumplen sesenta años. ¿Por qué se establece ese baremo? ¿Se tiene en cuenta que poseen autonomía suficiente para seguir viviendo en el que, hasta ahora, ha sido su domicilio? ¿O sólo se valora la insuficiencia de plazas en este tipo de centros? ¿Se tiene en cuenta su opinión para realizar este traslado? ¿Están ambos recursos capacitados para afrontar las necesidades de estos usuarios? ¿Cómo es tratada la enfermedad mental en países como EEUU o Reino Unido?

[EN] There is frequently a complete lack of protection of the rights of those who suffer from severe mental illness. This had led us to ask the question whether the existing EU funds, of which these people are the beneficiaries, ensure their well-being and quality of life. The bibliographic review carried out studies in great detail which factors determine the switch from a care home to an old people’s home for those over 60’s suffering from mental illness. Why has this age threshold been established? Is the fact that they possess sufficient autonomy to continue living in their own home taken into account? Or is it the lack of places at centres of this type that is the determining factor? Is their opinion taken into account when moving them? Are the funds fully able to deal with the needs of these users? How is mental illness treated in countries like USA or UK?
