Antibiotic resistance, and from a broader perspective, antimicrobial resistance, is considered one of the most important threats to public health worldwide. The rapid evolution of resistant microbial species and their ability to prevail and spread among animal, human, and environmental microbiomes has made several infectious diseases more difficult or even impossible to treat. To address this crisis, it is necessary to design strategies from a "One Health" perspective, which promote collaboration between the sectors involved to stop the spread of antibiotic resistance. In this bibliographical review, updated information is presented on the policies and projects related to the containment of antibiotic resistance that have been implemented at the national and international level, and studies to be carried out and strategies to follow that can help to face this problem. Finally, possible emerging strategies are discussed to help reduce the problem of antibiotic resistance.
