EXPLORING CLIL-BASED PEDAGOGICAL STRATEGIES FOR SKILLS TRAINING OF ENGLISH TEACHERS FROM SECONDARY EDUCATION IN THE CITY OF GUAYAQUIL, ECUADOR

Resumen
[ES] Recientemente, el enfoque CLIL ha experimentado un avance significativo en diferentes contextos en
varias partes del mundo. Su introducción e implementación ha sido bien recibida por muchas
instituciones educativas en la ciudad de Guayaquil, Ecuador. El problema referido a este contexto , es la
poca integración demostrada por los docentes de educación secundaria en el manejo sincronizado de
las habilidades lingüísticas y contenido académico de asignaturas del currículo escolar. Debido a la
importancia de CLIL, este trabajo tiene como objetivo discutir las habilidades que deben desarrollar los
docentes de las escuelas secundarias locales en términos del conocimiento de su materia curricular
básica, su competencia en lengua extranjera (inglés) y sus habilidades pedagógicas. Por lo que el
enfoque principal de este trabajo es presentar y discutir una propuesta metodológica para la formación
docente orientada a CLIL en la educación secundaria en la ciudad de Guayaquil, Ecuador. Esta tesis
busca demostrar cómo la enseñanza basada en tareas que contempla las 4C, tiene el potencial de
mejorar las lecciones CLIL.
[EN] Recently, the CLIL approach has seen significant advancement in different contexts in various parts of the world. Its introduction and implementation have been well received by many educational institutions in the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador. The problem referred to in this context is the little integration demonstrated by secondary education teachers in the synchronized management of language skills and academic content of school curriculum subjects. Due to the importance of CLIL, this work aims to discuss the skills that local secondary school teachers should develop in terms of their knowledge of their core curricular subject, their foreign language (English) competence, and their pedagogical skills. Therefore, the main focus of this work is to present and discuss a methodological proposal for CLIL-oriented teacher training in secondary education in the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador. This thesis seeks to demonstrate how task-based teaching that contemplates the 4Cs has the potential to improve CLIL lessons.
