VIOLACIÓN DE DERECHOS HUMANOS EN LA REPÚBLICA DEMOCRÁTICA DEL CONGO: LA FIEBRE DEL COLTÁN

Abstract

La República Democrática del Congo cuenta desde hace años con una de las tragedias más significativas y, a su vez, más invisibles del mundo. Los recursos naturales y riquezas que dispone solo le han atribuido una monotonía de guerras internas y corrupción por parte de un gobierno incapaz de mantener el orden. Entre los diversos minerales que existen en sus colinas, este país destaca por el saqueo de su “oro negro”: el coltán. Desde el colonialismo de hace más de un siglo, hasta día de hoy, la codicia por este mineral ha hecho que empresas de países transnacionales violen los derechos y libertades de los ciudadanos y se generen cientos de grupos rebeldes que perturban a la población civil, la cual se encuentra sometida a violaciones, reclutamientos y asesinatos para extraer ciertas cantidades de este mineral, por un salario y unas condiciones alejados de los principios básicos de las personas.

Since colonialism more than a century ago, until today, the greed for this mineral has caused companies from transnational countries to violate the rights and freedoms of citizens and to generate hundreds of rebel groups that disturb the civilian population, which is subjected to rape, recruitment and murder to extract certain quantities of this mineral, for a salary and conditions far from the basic principles of people."
