This master’s dissertation deals with the descriptive linguistic study of the neologisms that were added to the Oxford English Dictionary during the years 2018 to 2022. The two research hypotheses of this study are the identification of the most productive word formation process, alongside the semantic field that has enriched the language the most during that timespan. After compiling a corpus with all the new entries and analysing the data quantitatively and qualitatively, it is concluded that compounding is the most fruitful word process, and that gastronomy is the field that has incorporated more words to the English language during that period.
