Indumentarias del siglo XVIII en España

Abstract

La indumentaria ha sufrido innumerables transformaciones a lo largo de toda la Historia, pero es especialmente durante el siglo XVIII cuando una consecución de modas, tremendamente efímeras, se importan principalmente desde Francia hacia España. Durante el reinado de los Austrias en España, hubo un hermetismo respecto a las modas internacionales y se impuso el “traje a la española” protagonizado por el color negro, exportándose a algunas zonas de Europa aunque cabe señalar que también hubo algunas excepciones. Con la llegada de los Borbones a nuestro país se pudo observar la internacionalización de la corte hispánica acorde a lo establecido en el resto de cortes europeas y tuvo una sucesión de diferentes estilos importados. Tanto el traje masculino como el femenino fueron objetos de numerosas modificaciones y constantes evoluciones adaptándose a las diferentes tendencias que se iban sucediendo. Respecto a la indumentaria religiosa cabe destacar que en este siglo fue cuando se empezaron a usar en el ámbito eclesiástico los textiles destinados hasta entonces para la indumentaria cortesana.

Attire has suffered many transformations throughout History, but it is especially during the XVIIIth century when different trends, very brief, are imported mainly from France to Spain. During the Habsburg Reign there was certain impenetrability to international trends and the “Spain costume” imposed it self with its blackness, being exported to some areas in Europe, although we have to outline some exceptions. With the arrival of the House of Bourbon to Spain, we can witness the internationalization of the Spanish Court and there was a succession of different imported styles. Both male and female attire suffered many modifications and constant evolutions, adapting to ongoing trends. Regarding religious attire we have to emphasize that in this century was when fabrics meant until then for courtly attire were used for ecclesiastical clothing.
