[EN] The main objective of the study was to analyze the relationships between EI, personality traits and burnout syndrome in secondary school teachers. A cross-sectional study was conducted in a sample of 157 male and female, aged between 20 and 65 years, who responded to three questionnaires on the study variables: WorkGroupEmotionalIntelligenceProfile-Shortversion (WEIP-S, Jordan & Lawrence, 2009; Spanish adaptation of López- Zafra et al., 2012); Goldberg's 50 Bipolar Adjective (Goldberg, 1992; Spanish adaptation by García et al., 2004) and Maslach Burnout Inventory; General Survey (MBI- GS, Maslach et al., 1996; Spanish version by Schaufeli et al., 2002). The results indicated that teachers with more emotional stability, responsibility and EI register less burnout. In addition, we have found that EI can predict burnout levels beyond that predicted by personality traits. We discuss these and draw conclusions to be considered in future research.
