(ES) El flamenco es un género musical español que se ha convertido en un elemento
emblemático de la cultura española y un símbolo de la misma a nivel internacional. Se trata
de un género muy complejo, pues cuenta con una breve pero intensa historia, y con unas
características musicales muy particulares, que destacan por su técnica y su expresividad, y
por las excepcionales cualidades que se requieren a sus intérpretes. En la actualidad es un
género que se sigue estudiando en profundidad, pues está en constante evolución. Además,
ha sido un tema recurrente a lo largo de la historia del arte desde su surgimiento y
posterior institucionalización a finales del siglo XIX. Los artistas comenzaron a adoptar esta
temática como símbolo de lo español, por lo que a través de ejemplos en las artes visuales
de los últimos dos siglos se puede profundizar en los aspectos técnicos y musicales del
flamenco.
