[EN] The structure of the inflorescence has a fundamental role in the reproductive success of plants. Understand the mechanisms that determine the structure has interesting implications for understanding its evolution. This work evaluates a model that explains the compromise between the number and size of the flowers of the inflorescence from geometric rules. To this end, the relationships between the basal diameter, pedicle diameter and number and weight of flowers in 15 species are analyzed. The results show that the basic assumptions of the model are valid. These results suggest that the form of the compromise is constant in all species of vascular plants, independently of the variation in environmental conditions. Therefore, the evolution of the size and number of flowers per inflorescence is the result of limitations of the architecture of the plant, that is, physical limitations.
