Simulación numérica del comportamiento hidráulico del canal de las Manillas (Arquillos, Jaén)

Resumen
El canal hidráulico que encauza el arroyo de las Manillas en el municipio de Arquillos (Jaén) ha sufrido un severo
deterioro desde su construcción hasta la actualidad. Se cuantificará el campo de velocidad, calado y esfuerzos
cortantes resultante del flujo en el canal hidráulico. Los caudales a simular se estimarán a partir de la información
instrumental disponibles y datos tomados en campo tras recientes inundaciones. Finalmente, se explican los
defectos causados por las elevadas velocidades de agua y la naturaleza supercrítica del flujo mediante simulaciones
numéricas de detalle que no eran posibles en la época en la que se diseñó el canal.
The artificial channel that protects the town of Arquillos from floods caused by the Manillas torrent has been eroded by water during extreme rainfalls. This work quantifies several hydraulic variables such as flow depth, velocity and shear stress using two-dimensional numerical simulations. The peak water discharge was evaluated from available rain gauges, and the failures of the Manillas channel could then be explained from the computed hydraulic variables. Finally, we show that the same method is helpful to re-design the channel and selecting the optimal width.
