“Caracterización de flora y vegetación en el Corredor Seco Oriental de Guatemala”

Abstract

[ES] El Corredor Seco de Guatemala representado por las siglas “CSG”, abarca una extensión de 10.200 km2. Esta zona se caracteriza por su clima seco y árido, con precipitaciones escasas e irregulares propiciando como consecuencia impactos en el suministro de agua, ambientales, en la agricultura y la economía de la zona. El presente trabajo se realizó en el departamento de Chiquimula con el objetivo de generar resiliencias frente al cambio climático, mediante el conocimiento de la flora y vegetación del Corredor Seco oriental en Guatemala. La diagnosis bioclimática de la zona de estudio se incluye en los bioclimas Tropical Xérico y Tropical Pluviestacional. El estudio de la vegetación se sustentó en 159 inventarios fitosociológicos con 66 especies. Estas fitocenosis de pinar se han identificado con la asociación Curatello amercanae-Byrsonimetum crassifoliae ass. nova. hoc loco, la cual se sugiere incluirla en la alianza Byrsonimo-Pinion oocarpae all. nova, que proponemos como nueva para los territorios de México y Centroamérica.

[EN] The Corredor Seco de Guatemala, represented by the acronym "CSG", covers an area of 10,200 km2. This area is characterised by its dry and arid climate, with low and irregular rainfall, resulting in impacts on water supply, the environment, agriculture and the economy of the area. This work was carried out in the department of Chiquimula with the aim of generating resilience to climate change through knowledge of the flora and vegetation of the Corredor Seco oriental in Guatemala. The bioclimatic diagnosis of the study area is included in the Xeric Tropical and Pluvial Tropical bioclimates. The vegetation study was based on 159 phytosociological inventories with 66 species. These pine forest phytocenoses have been identified with the association Curatello amercanae-Byrsonimetum crassifoliae ass. nova. hoc loco, which we suggest to include in the alliance Byrsonimo-Pinion oocarpae all. nova, which we propose as new for the territories of Mexico and Central America.
