EXPLORING THE USE OF THE TASK-BASED APPROACH IN THE EFL CLASS: A DIDACfiC PROPOSAL

Abstract

[ES] Este documento pretende examinar las múltiples dimensiones del enfoque por tareas debido a su evidente creciente popularidad en la enseñanza del inglés como lengua extranjera. Para ello, dicho documento explora las ventajas y desventajas que tiene el enfoque por tareas en comparación con otros métodos y enfoques, su aplicación en el sistema educativo español actual y el tratamiento de las cuatro destrezas del idioma. Además, nos enfocaremos en la importancia del uso de material auténtico y las numerosas ventajas del trabajo colaborativo en este enfoque. Finalmente, incluiremos un ejemplo práctico que consiste en una unidad didáctica integrada para una clase de 3° de ESO.

[EN] 1bis paper intends to examine the multiple dimensions of the Task-Based Approach due to its noticeable increasing popularity in EFL teaching. For this purpose, this paper explores the advantages and disadvantages the Task-Based Approach has in comparison to other methods and approaches, its implementation in the current education system in Spain and the treatment of the four language skills. Additionally , we will focus on the importance of the use of authentic material and the numerous advantages of collaborative working in this approach. Finally, we will include a practical example that consists of an integrated didactic unit for a secondary class in the 3rd year of Compulsory Secondary Education.
