Intervención asistida con perro en duelo infantil. La recuperación tras el trauma

Abstract

[ES]El objetivo del presente Trabajo de Fin de Máster es el diseño de un programa de intervención asistida con perro en proceso de duelo infantil. La muerte de un ser querido puede llegar a ser una de las situaciones más traumáticas de afrontar por los niños y niñas debido al dolor y confusión que les genera. Los adultos en su misión de protegerlos esconden la muerte y todo lo relacionado con ella para evitar su sufrimiento generando así, que no se desarrollen sus habilidades y estrategias necesarias para afrontar la pérdida. El perro se incluye como facilitador de la comunicación y la expresión de sus emociones. Exteriorizar sentimientos como el miedo o la tristeza permite al niño o a la niña aceptar la realidad de la pérdida, logrando así favorecer su proceso de duelo.

[EN]The main objective of this Final Project is to design a useful dog-assisted program that could be used with children who are going through the mourning process. The death of a loved one can be a very traumatic situation for children, because of the pain and confusion it provokes. Many times, when adults try to protect them, they avoid talking about death and everything that has to do with it; but what they are really doing is to stop the children from developing their skills and strategies needed to face the loss. The dog is included as an element used to facilitate communication and the expression of emotions. The externalisation of feelings like fear or sadness allows the child to accept the loss, something very helpful if we are trying to make the mourning process easier.
