[EN]Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common form of irreversible dementia in old age. Is a neurodegenerative disease that manifests as cognitive impairment and behavioral disorders. The diagnosis is clinical, with no laboratory tests to confirm the presence of the disease except post-mortem. In this present TFG will be performed an exhaustive search of the different diagnostic criteria available at present and will be analyzed their differences and similarities. Conducting a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation in these patients is essential for identification and early detection of this disease. Therefore will be described also in detail the neuropsychological profile associated with the EA, the damage observed in different capacities and functions of the brain and the risk factors that increase the likelihood of developing this type of dementia. Today, there is no effective curative treatment, but yes a variety of drugs and therapeutic techniques to help alleviate the progression of this disease.
