[EN]INTRODUCTION: Fibromyalgia (FM) is a biopsychosocial disease that affects to the muscle-skeletal system whose main characteristic is chronic widespread pain. This pain, with other intrinsic factors of the disease such as anxiety and depression create problems in balance. Therefore, we analyzed the association of anxiety and depression with postural control in women with fibromyalgia, as well as self-confidence in balance in women with and without fibromyalgia. METHODOLOGY: a transversal study was conducted with 160 subjects in the province of Jaen (80 FM and 80 without FM) in which anxiety and depression in relation to the balance of the participants and their self-confidence in it was analyzed by a static posturography questionnaires HADS and ABC. RESULTS: Subjects with FM had higher values than subjects without fibromyalgia in RMSX (0.415 vs. 0.375) as well as a greater Xmedia both eyes open (M = 6,765 mm vs M = 4.335 mm) and closed eyes (M = M = 6.71 mm vs 3,735 mm). In addition, they obtained a lower average total score on the ABECÉ, therefore less confidence in balance and a greater fear of falling (FM 56.9 FM 85.68 vs no). CONCLUSION: women with FM have a lower balance in the medium - lateral axes and a less confident of that, however, increased front-real control. Anxiety showed significant differences, unlike depression between groups.
