A randomized clinical trial search was performed in Pubmed, Scopus and PEDro databases. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria 7 articles were selected for this review. In them, exercise in aquatic environment were applied on children with cerebral palsy, evaluating the effects mainly on gross motor function, spasticity, range of motion, social function, motor skills and quality of life. These studies were classified into three groups attending to the modality of exercise applied: exercise in aquatic environment, exercise in land environment and exercise in both of these environments. In conclusion, the variables studied show better results when the intervention consists of some aquatic exercise for the treatment of children with cerebral palsy.
