The present Master thesis is a Didactic Unit that, taking Roman imperial portrait as a departure point, considers the ideological component within the work of art. This proposal is framed within the Audiovisual Culture subject, which belongs to the first year of the Spanish Arts Bachillerato. Emphasis is made on discovery learning, which, in this case is stimulated through a flâneurish walk around Jaén, Spain, ir order to pay attention to the sculptures standing in public spaces. This way, bearing in mind what has been taught in class, students will have to stablish similarities and differences among the sculptures, thus transfering the Didactic Unit contents into the familiar: the city in which one lives.
