REVISIÓN BIBLIOGRÁFICA ACERCA DEL USO DE LAS METODOLOGÍAS CUANTITATIVA, CUALITATIVA Y MIXTA EN ESTUDIOS BASADOS EN FRACASO ESCOLAR.

Abstract

Este trabajo se basa en una revisión bibliográfica en la que se ha comparado el uso de las metodologías cualitativa, cuantitativa y mixta en aquellos estudios en los que se investiga el fracaso escolar. El objetivo de este trabajo se ha centrado en aquellos artículos los cuales la variable a estudiar sobre el fracaso escolar se incluye dentro de la perspectiva analítica centrada en los problemas del alumnado. Finalmente se han revisado 11 artículos y los resultados nos muestran que se ha utilizado en cada uno de ellos la metodología cuantitativa. La metodología cualitativa se ha usado en menor proporción siendo inexistente la aplicación de la metodología mixta. Tras esta revisión se espera que en estudios futuros se fomente más el uso de la metodología mixta pudiendo así observar, entender y explicar la realidad en mayor profundidad.

This project is based on a bibliographic review that has compared the use of qualitative, quantitative and mixed methodologies in studies that investigate school failure. The aim of this project has been focused on those articles that the variable to study about school failure is included within the analytical perspective focused on the students' problems. Finally, 11 articles were reviewed and the results show that the quantitative methodology has been used in each one of them. The qualitative methodology has been used to a lesser proportion, with no application of the mixed methodology. It is hoped that in future studies the use of the mixed methodology will be further encouraged so as to be able to observe, understand and explain reality in greater depth.
