Inhibición de prepulso en el Trastorno de Estrés Postraumático: una revisión bibliográfica.

Abstract

La inhibición prepulso (IBP) es una medida de supresión motora cuya finalidad es el filtrado sensorial manteniendo la atención en el estímulo inicial y bloqueando el estímulo que provoca el sobresalto. Este paradigma experimental se ha empleado en diversas modalidades de investigación, así como también ha sido estudiado su déficit en muchos otros trastornos, como por ejemplo el trastorno de estrés postraumático (TEPT). En el presente trabajo se realiza una revisión bibliográfica de aquellos artículos en los que se han empleado la IBP como una de las variables de estudio en aquellas personas con TEPT. Obtuvimos 8 artículos, concluyendo que hay cierta alteración de la IBP en los pacientes con TEPT, pero se debería de tener en cuenta otros factores, como por ejemplo el alcohol, el sexo, o la nicotina a la hora de realizar este tipo de investigaciones.

Prepulse inhibition (PPI) is a measure of motor suppression that is determined by controlled sensory filtering, focusing on the initial stimulus and blocking the stimulus that causes the startle. This experimental paradigm has been used in various research modalities, and its deficit has also been studied in many other disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This dissertation/project is a bibliographic review of articles that have employed the PPI as an indicator of study in those people with PTSD. We obtained 8 articles, concluding that there is some alteration of the PPI in patients with PTSD, but it should consider other factors, such as alcohol, sex, nicotine when conducting this type of research.
