Introduction: Asthma is a term defined as a chronic inflammatory disease in people’s respiratory tract in which several cells and inflammatory mediators are involved. The inhaled corticosteroids have been the cornerstone in its treatment, which has raised constant concerns concerning the possible effects in the decrease of the growth rate. Aim: To describe the influence of the use of inhaled corticosteroids in children with asthma during the infant growth found in the searches conducted. Methodology: A literature search has been conducted in the main databases as well as a reverse search. Having applied the selection criteria, we obtained a sample of 26 articles. Results: Several authors claim that there were no systematically significant variances in terms of growth suppression in children being treated with ICS. Other authors relate suppression with different variables. Conclusions: Treatment with inhaled corticosteroids brings benefits that exceed the systemic effects that it may produce.
